Jean H. Misiura

d. December 11, 2020

Jean H. Misiura, 85, of Clarks Summit, died Dec. 11 at the Pines Senior Living, Clarks Summit. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George Misiura, who died Oct. 17, 2018.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Skreka Wengren, she was a graduate of Olyphant High School, class of 1953. Furthering her education at the Comptometer School of Business in Scranton prepared her for a career in payroll administration, making sure everybody got paid at Colonial Togs in Jessup. Jean left the office to raise her three children, tirelessly supporting their educations and her husband's business endeavors with Acker Drill Co. and later, his own business, Enterprise Machine and Tool. Jean later rejoined the workforce as a cafeteria employee for the Abington Heights School District, where she worked for 20 years until her retirement in 2001.

Jean was involved with many church, community and social organizations, among them the Women's Guild at Our Lady of the Snows Parish, and the Women of Elmhurst Country Club, where she served a term as president and was the Queen of the 50/50. One of Jean's greatest pleasures was celebrating monthly dinners with her Birthday Club, a mobile dinner club which started with fellow employees of Colonial Togs and lasted for over 50 years. Wherever Jean lived and worked, she developed lifelong, committed friendships and will be missed, deeply.

The family would like to thank the staff of Traditional Home Health Care Hospice, and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Pines Senior Living for their exceptional care and compassion during Jean's stay there.

She is survived by a son, Martin Misiura, D.D.S., and attorney Johanna Gelb; two daughters, Christine Kozel and husband, John, Elmhurst; Linda McCawley and husband, Jason, Cochranville; one sister-in-law, Elaine Zinsky Misiura, Batavia, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Paul Misiura, D.D.S. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, John, Stephen, Peter and Michael Wengren; and two sisters, Ann Michalski and Mary A. Wengren; a brother-in-law, John S. Misiura; and nephews, Gerard Michalski and Samuel Misiura.
