May 27, 2024
Michael L. Mills, 73, of Scranton, died on Monday evening at Aventura at Creekside Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Carbondale. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen Howells Mills.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Leo and Martha Vutnoski Mills, he was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Central Catholic High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Michael was a hard-working man, a loyal employee of Regional Hospital for over twenty years. Always active, hobbies consisted of him reading his favorite books--particularly Tom Clancy and Harry Potter novels-- watching his old westerns, comedy skits, NCIS, and Blue Bloods, when he wasn’t streaming Netflix, Hulu, and Tubi on his phone.
A kind and gentle soul, he loved what he loved and he made it known. Working hard at everything he accomplished, he loved his wife and daughters even more. Michael always made sure his family was taken care of, even by working multiple jobs to provide for them. He loved to crack jokes, laugh and sing. His famous saying, when asked “how are you ?”, was “miserable, rotten, about normal”. He touched many lives with his personality and smart wit. He’s gone but never forgotten by many who had the opportunity to know and love him.
Michael is survived by five daughters, Jennifer Hertman and husband Walter, Jermyn, Pamela Hallock and husband Timothy, Scranton, Kimberly Mills and boyfriend Kyle, Scranton, Amanda Mills, Scranton, Ashley Mills and fiancée Charles, Scranton, a brother, Patrick Mills, Cleveland, Ohio, six grandchildren, Joshua Mills, Ryan Hertman, Madison Hertman, Carly Robacker, Emillio Roman, and Jacob Roman, and two nephews and cousins.
