Michael Edward “Ozzie” Osborne, 55, a resident of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, died on Wednesday at his home.

Born in Scranton, Michael was the son of the late William P. Osborne and Joan Louise Davis Osborne. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School in 1986. Following graduation, he was employed by the Scranton School District as a maintenance technician and worked there for over 30 years. He retired in 2023 due to medical concerns.

As a child, Michael enjoyed growing up as one of the Green Ridge gang and played basketball and baseball. He later played in the Tavern Softball League. Michael was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football, the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed life at the Parker House and Donkey Café with his many friends. Michael proudly displayed his Irish heritage with a green shamrock tattoo on his hand just like his Dad’s. Michael was a very sensitive and kind man who was loved by many.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Munley, North Scranton, a brother, James Osborne, and wife Denise Shandra, East Mountain, a sister-in-law, Lynn Osborne, Minooka, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William P. Osborne, Sr. in 2015, and his mother, Joan Louise Davis Osborne in 2019, his brother William P. Osborne, Jr. in 2023, and a brother-in-law, James Munley, in 2021.

The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, May 16, 2024 with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until commencement of services. Interment will be private, at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 323 William Street, Scranton.
