Bob Hawk, 72, of Scranton, died Sunday morning surrounded by family at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He and his wife, Barbara McCloe Hawk, enjoyed 16 wonderful years together.

He grew up in Nescopeck, son of the late Edward and Lois Burlingame Hawk. A graduate of Nescopeck High School, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from East Stroudsburg State College in health and physical education. Bob taught for the Scranton School District for 32 years, with most of his career spent at West Scranton Intermediate School. Throughout the years, he was a JV and varsity baseball coach for West Scranton and was also a football coach for Scranton Tech. To this day, Mr. Hawk is adored by many former students.

Throughout his life, he was an avid golfer, athlete, stamp collector, gardener and fisherman. Hawk was known to have the best moves out on the dance floor. Hawk - that unforgettable smile and carefree attitude. Papa Hawk was such a loving, supportive and devoted husband, son and father to many, including his best canine friend, Cash. Words that best describe him are honest, caring and a family man with a heart of gold. He made friends easily, and many became family over the years. Ever a faithful member of St. Matthew's United Evangelical Lutheran Church, he enjoyed doing volunteer work for his church and many local service groups. A former member of the Crystal Band, he was also active with the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts and the Northeast Pennsylvania Philatelic Society.

Also surviving are his four daughters, Shelly Weatherby, California; Chrys Dalrymple, Colorado; Gwen Juha, California; and Caitie Hawk Grasso, Avoca; a son, Dwann McCloe, Blakeslee; nine grandchildren, Carlee, Kyle, Leila, Gabriel, Finley, Robbie, Leonzie, Imani and Devauna; and a special caretaker, Angela Berrios.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Terry; his former wife, Linda Hawk,; and a son, Robbie.

The funeral will be Saturday with a service at 11 a.m. to be celebrated in St. Matthew's United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 425 Jefferson Ave., Scranton.

Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 715 Linden St., Scranton. Interment, private at the convenience of the family.
