Robert M. Thomas, Sr., 88, of North Scranton, died on Sunday morning at the Green Ridge Care Center, Scranton. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Patricia Thomas.

Born in Scranton on November 4, 1935 to the late Willard and Sophie Karlavige Thomas, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was also a proud United States Army Veteran. Prior to retirement, he was lead inspector at Sandvik Steel for over 31 years.

In his younger years, Bob was a huge sports fan, especially of football. But in later years, even though he never played the game, he became an avid fan of golf.

Bob was the type of person that would help anyone in need, but he had a special place in his heart for children and animals.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that our family could ever hope for and will be missed more than words can say!

Bob is survived by four sons, Joseph Wharton (Bonnie), Mountain Top, James Wharton, Scranton, John Wharton (Lisa), Georgia, and Robert Thomas, Jr., Scranton, a daughter, Debbie Chiavacci (Gene), Dalton, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Thomas.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday June 27, 2024 with a Memorial and Blessing Service to be held at 10:30 am in the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 323 William Street, Scranton. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 am until the commencement of services. Burial will be private at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd, South Abington Township, PA 18411
