Scott A. McKenna, 45, formerly of Scranton and a longtime resident of the Moscow area, died unexpectedly Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Mary Frances Rogan McKenna and the late Ronald McKenna, and was a graduate of Mountain View High School. Scott was the owner of ACE Economy Roofing after learning the trade at Roche Roofing with his friend and mentor, Mark Yeager.
Scott was witty, talented and meticulous in his work. He was an excellent roofer, carpenter and mechanic who cared about his clients and the quality of his work. Motorcycles and archery were his special pleasures. As a father, he was always present in his son Ronnie's life. Together, they especially enjoyed Cub Scouts and its many projects.
In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by his fiance and soulmate, Kelly Meyers; and their 8-year-old son, Ronnie McKenna, Scranton.
He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Ronald McKenna; and his beloved dog, Ace.
The family is particularly grateful to the Jefferson Twp. Paramedics, Dr. Lear Van Koch and the nursing staff at Regional Hospital for their extraordinary skills and compassionate medical care, and to Scott's AA friends from the Gouldsboro area, who nurtured his spirit and saved his life.
The funeral will be Thursday with a memorial Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9 and until the commencement of services. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
