Terence M. Connors

d. February 14, 2021

Terence (Terry) Connors passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, joining the love of his life, Paula, on Valentine's Day.

In addition to his wife, Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Romayne Connors; brothers, Ronny and Billy; and sister, Judy. And pretty much everyone else. (He made us say that.)

He is survived by his daughters (AKA the unholy trinity), PaulaLynn, Amy and Crissy; his grandchildren, AnaMaryah, Brittney, Anthony and Sierra; his great-grandchildren, Savanah, Derek, Ophelia and Callah; his sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as his step-grandchildren.

Terry and Paula loved each other since meeting in high school. They weren't supposed to love each other, because of the Olyphant/Archbald rivalry. But, they did. They married, Terry went to Vietnam, became a photographer, and came back home to his love and his family. With mom's help, he started his journey. Because of their love, we have had a wonderful, beautiful, weird, colorful life.

"Photography by Terry Connors." That was Daddy. Terry was a fixture in Scranton, especially at the University of Scranton for the past 50 years, and he loved his life. Because of his professionalism, empathy and charisma, he was able to be a part of so many people's lives, and all their beautiful moments. There were University of Scranton presidents, and presidents of the United States; faculty, staff, thousands of students, parents and alumni and visiting dignitaries; presidential inaugurations, building dedications, groundbreaking ceremonies, check presentations, student orientations and, especially, graduate and undergraduate commencements. So many events, large or small, Terry was there and felt privileged to be a "behind the scenes" part of them. Terry's photographic legacy can be viewed and continue to be enjoyed at the University of Scranton's Weinberg Memorial Library.

Although Terry was never an "official" employee of the university, he was inducted as an honorary member into their Order of Pro Deo et Universitate, recognizing 20 or more years of service to the university. Terry was the only person ever accorded that honor.

Terry didn't want us to say much. He just wanted everyone to be okay. We will be and we thank him for making it possible.

We would also like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, for all of their kindnesses.

The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church for the hour preceding services, beginning at 9 a.m. Social distancing procedures will be in effect and masks are required. A small gathering will take place at PaulaLynn's house after Mass for those who are comfortable and want to celebrate Terry's life.

Arrangements entrusted to the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 715 Linden St., Scranton.
