William R. O'Hara, 90, formerly of North Scranton, died Wednesday morning at Allied Services Hospice Center. He was the beloved friend of Joan Morgan.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Peter and Mary Franklin O'Hara, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was employed by Scranton Lace Co. A World War II veteran, William served in the Pacific theater, participating in the invasion of Okinawa. He remained on active duty and served at numerous United States Naval installations as an air traffic controller, retiring with the rank of chief petty officer. He was a longtime member of the VFW of Dupont.
He is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins.
William was also preceded in death by five sisters, Madelyn Allen, Mildred Fletcher, Marie Renshaw, Eleanor McLean, and Evelyn Laggan; and two brothers, Francis and Donald.
Funeral services are private. Arrangements entrusted to the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 715 Linden St., Scranton.
